Beauty By Design had an amazing time at Nourrir Bloom - Spring Fashion Revolution Showcase! Here is a group shot of all my looks. Thanks to Freya Ershadi Inanna and Nourrir Magazine for having me! Come take a better look and read more about what inspired me to create each piece!

Beauty by Design Collection

Lily

My first dress to hit the runway for this collection is called Lily and has a dreamy flow. I was so excited when I was able to find this emerald crinkle charmeuse mill-end - it was meant to be! Mill-end textile is a good way to get leftover designer fabric and not let it go to waste. The lining is up-cycled from an unsold bridesmaid dress and the charmeuse was a perfect pairing.

Lenton Rose

The next dress, named Lenton Rose, is up-cycled from an unsellable sample bridesmaid dress. Many sample dresses have the word “SAMPLE” printed across the dress making it unusable once the dress is discontinued. I rescued it because I could see its true potential. And, voila! I transformed it into this cute cocktail dress.

Windflower

This dress is called Windflower and was designed specifically for a bohemian beach wedding. The lace on this dress, like Lily, is from mill-end fabrics.

I also like to use vintage wedding dresses that clients bring in. I incorporate the lace or buttons from them into other dresses or accessories, or transform them all together and make baptismal gowns and flower girl dresses out of them.

Iris

Iris was the next to hit the stage. The top is made from organic cotton and the skirt is up-cycled from unwanted skirt linings. Often times clients come to me and ask to remove parts of their dress which I save and create new pieces such as this skirt.

Angelica

The Angelica dress was next and was designed to make you feel like an angel. It is made with a hemp/silk blend which has the durability of hemp, and the flow of silk. This fabric is from the first fabric retailer in the U.S. to be fully GOTS-certified, meaning not only was the dress manufactured ethically, but the fabric was produced ethically as well. This ensures the wearer can feel good knowing that she is supporting local business and fair trade practices.

Stella

The last dress is called Stella. Inspired by the Modern Art era of the 1920s, you are sure to feel like a star in this dress. It is made with pure silk and lined with a cotton/silk blend for maximum comfort. The materials, beads, and rhinestones were purchased from locally owned boutiques in St. Paul. Stella is my original design, made from scratch. Having a custom dress made especially for you is an experience like no other. I use quality fabrics, the patterns are designed and made specifically for each body, and the construction of the dress is such a quality that it will last for years. Getting a tailor-made garment designed and constructed with your exact measurements, feels so good and boosts your confidence. In this way, I’m able to express my passion for inspiring women to feel good in their own bodies, just the way they are.

Again, I had such a great time showcasing some of my favorite pieces. I’d love to help you create something magical for your next occasion
